Big fish and large schools of fish can be observed relatively close to shore, in many areas around the islands. In warmer weather, it is not uncommon to see one metre long Trumpet Fish, massive Loggerhead, or Green Turtles, Manta Rays up to three metres, the largest balloon fish you will find anywhere and schools of dolphins. Large schools of Barracuda, over 100 fish, strawberry coloured Coney Group and clouds of beautiful reef fish. Off the northern coast of Boa Vista island you may find over 100 large Yellow Fin Tuna breaking the surface.- Day 1. Travel to the Cape Verde Islands
- Fly to Sal, direct with Astreus or via Lisbon on TAP Air Portugal. Upon arrival transfer to the Hotel Morabeza, set right on the beach at Santa Maria the Morabeza is the hub of social life in Sal.

The huge white sandy beach stretches out, east and west of the hotel, across a south facing bay. There are 140 en-suite rooms, including suites for 3-4 people, each with satellite TV, safe, telephone, fan and balcony with sea or garden views. Dinner is served under the stars, amongst mature trees, in the courtyard.
The harbour and PADI dive centre are just over a 100 metres away. Many excursions are available to the other Cape Verde islands, with their unique topography and mix of African and European culture. Visit the mouth of the volcanic, Cha das Caldeiras, on the island of Fogo, with it's lunar like landscape of lava flow; or the coconut and date palm island of Boavista with it's beautiful beaches and sand dunes. Enjoy the culture of Santiago, the most populated and African of the islands or the well-preserved colonial architecture of Sao Vicente.
