Travel to the southern Maldives and escape the crowds for an exceptional liveaboard experience with plenty of shark encounters.

The southern Maldives is renowned for exceptional drift diving, superb visibility, unspoiled coral reefs and some of the best shark encounters in the Maldives. Think grey reef, hammerhead, silky and more!

Diving in the southern atolls is seasonal and a very rewarding experience. The Laamu Atoll is renowned for shark encounters and prolific fish life in the channels, Huvadhoo for a variety of shark sightings plus night time whale shark encounters. Fuvamulah is where you can expect to see oceanic manta rays and possibly thresher sharks, plus there's the opportunity of the thrilling tiger shark site (local charge). Addu Atoll is home to some excellent dive sites and HMS British Loyalty, a WWll wreck to explore.

There are a handful of liveaboards operating unique southern itineraries in peak season at the beginning of the year. Most include at least one domestic flight as the boats are stationed in the south during this time. Please ask the Dive team for further details.

The itinerary below is based on a seven night Deep South and Southern Sharks itinerary on the Emperor Voyager. To join the trip, divers must have logged 100 dives and be advanced and/or deep diver qualified to get the best out of this adventure.
