Tobago
There are many gentle dives suitable for beginners, whilst experienced divers can enjoy challenging drift dives - sweeping past untouched reefs and walls, boasting a vast array of marine species in a rainbow of colours. In suitable weather, experienced divers should head for a rocky outcrop called 'The Sisters,' and a population of Scalloped Hammerheads.
The area is species rich, with Manta Rays, Great Hammerheads, schooling Jacks and a myriad of reef fish including Barracudas, Queen, Grey, and French Angel Fish, Porcupine Fish, Wrasses, Chromis, Grouper, Snapper, turtles, Sting Rays and what is arguably the Caribbean's most prolific and healthy coral.Off-shore from Speyside are the bird sanctuaries of Little Tobago and St. Giles islands, home to large populations of Magnificent Frigatebirds, Red-billed Tropicbirds, boobies, pelicans and many more. Just south of Little Tobago is Kelleston Drian, where a brain coral colony has been growing undisturbed for centuries; this single colony is now as large as a truck, about three metres high and over five metres across.
An ideal way to experience all that Tobago has to offer is to have a two centre holiday.Splitting your stay between the two ends of the island and the two different coasts and the many contrasting dive sites.
