Located on the main island, a scenic two hour drive from Nadi, Pacific Harbour is the adventure capital of Fiji.

The magical Beqa Lagoon is home to some of the world’s best shark diving and the legendary Beqa Fire Walkers. Choose from soft coral diving, wreck diving or next level shark encounters. Also known as the Adventure Capital of Fiji, travellers can participate in white-water rafting, ziplining and a variety of non-motorised water sports such as surfing and stand-up paddleboard. Other activities include visits to a local village, trekking the lush interior and taking part in a Kava ceremony. There's never a dull moment above or below the waves!

Shark Diving in Beqa Lagoon

World-famous Beqa Lagoon has the arguably best shark diving in Fiji and is the birthplace of the Ultimate Shark Experience. The stretch of water between Viti Levu and Beqa Lagoon acts as a passage way for sharks, this area became a Shark Reef Marine Reserve in 2004 and was the first of its kind in Fiji. This protected area provides a haven for the sharks and an opportunity for scuba divers to witness these top ocean predators in a controlled environment.

Up to eight species of shark are seen at shark dive sites such as Cathedral and The Arena, during the Ultimate Shark Experience; bull sharks, whitetip reef sharks, blacktip reef sharks, tawny nurse sharks, lemon sharks, grey reef sharks, silvertip sharks, and even elusive tiger sharks. Scuba diving is conducted up to four times a week. As divers descend, they’ll see sharks circling below alongside large schools of jacks and snappers swirling around the feeding area. Divers are positioned on the reef on the edge of the dive site, without the protection of a cage. Once in place, the feeding begins. The most memorable shark encounter is the arrival of the enormous (but very well-behaved) bull sharks, which approach in large numbers, jaws wide open, taking food directly from the feeder. An exhilarating spectacle, enough to get anyone's heart pumping.

The Ultimate Shark Experience inspired the Awakening Shark Dive, which is conducted in the Mamanucas and Yasawa Islands. Combined, these two locations are a must for those interested in shark behaviour and thrilling marine experiences.

Reef Diving in Beqa Lagoon & Pacific Harbour

With over 100 dive sites accessible in this area, there are more than sharks in this amazing underwater world. The water is nutrient rich, allowing soft and hard corals to thrive, sea fans and reef fish are abundant. It's not uncommon to come across clown triggerfish swimming around large coral heads and blue ribbon eels poking out of their hiding holes. The rich marine life also accommodates the sharks rather nicely.

Top Dive Sites in Beqa Lagoon & Pacific Harbour

Without question, the shark dives offer some of the best diving in Beqa Lagoon. Cathedral Shark Dive operates on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and we will ensure your visit aligns accordingly. Please note, these dives are suited to more experienced divers. Here the Ultimate Shark Encounter dive is conducted, and divers are treated to some of the best shark encounters in the world. The colours of Fantasea rival that of Taveuni's Rainbow Reef, where large sea fans and soft corals explode over the reef. There's also the Seven Sisters dive site, where seven coral heads are neatly aligned, each with its own unique interesting features and marine life.
