Offering trips to the remote Cocos Island, this custom built liveaboard is a rare combination of working ship and luxury yacht.
The MV Argo operates ten day trips throughout the year to the remote Cocos Island, consistently voted for in the top ten 'must dive' destinations and on most experienced divers' wish list. Designed in 2008 for divers, she accommodates 16 passengers in eight spacious well appointed air-conditioned double staterooms with en-suite bathrooms. Facilities on board include a spacious salon, the vibrant meeting place to discuss dives, play games or watch dvds, a dining area and plenty of dive kit and equipment storage. Dive facilities are extremely well designed with individual gear storage, private camera/strobe storage shelves including individual charge points (110 & 220 volt AC power).
Up to four dives operate daily, all from the custom built skiffs. Due to the remoteness and difficulty of some sites, divers are required to be deep and night diver trained with a minimum of 25 hours of logged dives. The boat is equipped with 12 litre tanks (Yoke) and Nitrox is complimentary for qualified divers.
The unique DeepSee submersible is on board for certain trips, giving divers a rare opportunity to dive (with a pilot) to a depth of 475 metres for up to two hours. The cost for these excursions is additional.
Water temperature is 26 – 29C year round and most of the action is found from 18-40 metres. The biodiversity of the marine life here is mesmerising. Expect white-tip reef sharks, schooling hammerheads, dolphin, mantas, marbled rays, sailfish, large schools of pelagic fish, turtles and the occasional whale shark. The water is home to at least 27 endemic fish species and the small rocky outcrop of land mass is home to numerous bird and plant species, some of which are endemic.
