Sharks, Reefs & Wrecks - Aliwal Shoal & Protea Banks

Explore the underwater world of Protea and Aliwal Shoal.

Day 1. Depart London: Fly overnight to Durban, changing planes in Johannesburg.
Day 2. Durban [D]: Arrive Durban International Airport, and transfer by road to Umkomaas, 45 minutes away.
Days 3 to 8. Aliwal Shoal & Protea Banks [B,D]: Two dives per day on Aliwal Shoal with the opportunity to wreck dive on the 'Produce' or the 'Nebo.' It is possible to see over 1,200 species of fish on the spectacular reef and Ragged-Tooth Sharks in the caves. Diving early in the day leaves the rest of the day free to explore the holiday town of Umkomaas. Diving at Protea Banks and Rocky Bay will also be available subject to weather conditions.
Aliwal Dive Lodge with its swimming pool and dive centre has a range of rooms (luxury en-suite to self-catering bunk rooms). The beach is a mere two minute walk away and there are restaurants and bars within walking distance. There is a cosy lounge with DVD facility and an ever increasing library of interesting books.
Day 9. Homeward [B]: Spend the day relaxing or exploring before catching a late afternoon flight back from Durban Airport.
Day 10. Arrive London.
