South Africa offers some of the best shark diving in the world. Diving takes place along the KwaZulu Natal South Coast on the reefs between the Aliwal Shoal and Protea Banks. Here it is possible to see a large number of different species of sharks including Tiger Sharks, Zambezi (Bull) Sharks, Hammerhead Sharks, Blacktip Sharks, Dusky Sharks, Guitar Sharks, Ragged Tooth Sharks and more. The reefs are rated as some of the best in the world for shark diving and the aim is to see as many different species of sharks as possible. On one of the days (when the conditions are best suited) there will also be a trip to see Tiger Shark Diving on the southern end of the Aliwal Shoal. On the other days where conditions allow there will be two dives a day, however it is possible to enjoy more than two dives, should the weather, sea and surf conditions permit. Conditions can be challenging and are only suitable for experienced divers. You will dive different areas and reefs.

The dive lodge where you will stay is a few minutes south of Umkomaas and is our base for Shark Diving on the reefs between the Aliwal Shoal and Protea Banks as well as the Tiger Shark Diving. The lodge overlooks miles of sandy beaches and the Indian Ocean. Whales, Dolphin and even Whale Sharks (January through March) often pass close by in front of the lodge. The lodge has eight ensuite bedrooms with private balconies, a swimming pool, kitchen facilities, tea and coffee, television, laundry service, internet and fax facilities, plus beach access to miles of sandy beaches.
