Explore Tokyo, relax on tropical beaches, encounter manta rays, observe hammerhead sharks, discover an underwater city. This is a BIG tour of Japan!

Travelling around Japan is relatively easy. Our BIG in Japan itinerary allows you to explore Tokyo as well as diving highlights in the south of the country. It’s packed with adventure, discovery and encounters with marine life.

Travel south to Okinawa to begin your diving adventure in the warm, clear waters of the Kerema islands. The adventure continues to Ishigaki, famous for manta ray encounters, and then to Yonaguni where you may encounter hammerhead sharks whilst exploring the mysterious Iseki stones.

Suggested Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Depart the UK for Tokyo

  2. Day 2: Arrive Tokyo and overnight

    Transfer from the airport by road and train and check-in to your hotel for one night.

  3. Days 3-6 : Discover Okinawa

    Flight to Okinawa followed by ferry to Akajima. Spend three nights staying at the Marine House including breakfast and dinner. Spend two days diving the tropical waters of the Kerema islands, making five dives around Aka Island.

  4. Days 6-9 : Ishigaki mantas

    Take the ferry back to Naha and an onward flight to Ishigaki. Begin a three night stay at the Yaeyama Hyutta (or similar), with one day’s diving in Ishigaki (three dives), home to numerous majestic manta rays.

    Option to make a day trip over to Iriomote, one of Japan’s most remote and pristine islands (not included in trip price).

  5. Days 9-12 : Mysterious Yonaguni

    Take a morning flight to Yonaguni Island. Enjoy a further three nights at the Irifune Annexe Bamboo Villa including breakfast and dinner daily. Spend three days diving the mysterious Iseki stones, making seven dives. During winter, large schools of hammerheads gather in Yonaguni’s waters.

  6. Days 12-14 : Explore Tokyo

    Fly back to Tokyo and spend a final two days exploring Tokyo.

  7. Day 14: Depart Tokyo

  8. Day 15: Arrive UK

Ishigaki Island

The white sandy beaches, coral reef and inland jungle and mountains make Ishigaki Island a beautiful place to visit. Kerama Islands

The warm subtropical waters of the Kerama Islands are full of marine life with visibility usually exceeding 30 metres. Five species of turtle can often be seen in the water and nest on the local beaches. The islands also attract humpback whales seasonally. Find Out More about {acc:title}

Yonaguni Island

Japan’s most south-westerly point, Yonaguni is one of the biggest secrets in the diving world, full of mystery and marine life, including seasonal hammerhead sharks. Its unique and mysterious underwater monument provides an out of this world diving experience. Find Out More about {acc:title}
