The island of Curacao was formed from volcanic limestone on which coral has been - and still is- growing for centuries, making the lush reefs surrounding the island a scuba diver's paradise. There are over 65 pristine dive sites with visibility up to 150 feet, and the island's shore diving is amongst the best in the Caribbean. The island is great for divers and snorkellers alike. Close to the Venezuelan means that Curacao is usually well outside the hurricane belt. This coupled with an arid environment and minimal rainfall, means great visibility and hence the diving is excellent all year round.
