Costa Rica

Costa Rica's underwater wonders range from coastal coral reefs to offshore islands. Diving on the southern Pacific-side of Costa Rica is the type of diving adventure most divers only dream of; abundant marine-life ranging from reef sharks to Humpback Whales, Giant Manta Rays to turtles and Puffer Fish to Barracuda - to name only a few. Stretching just 150 miles wide, from the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean, and 250 miles long from Nicaragua to the Panama border, Costa Rica is one of the few places on earth to offer an incredible diversity of scenery, climate and adventure opportunities.

Malpelo & Cocos Islands Remote and only dived on a liveaboard! See hordes of Hammerhead Sharks and dense populations of pelagic and reef fish. Keep a look out for the elusive Whale Shark or the Giant Manta Rays. The sinister and forbidding Malpelo Island is located 314 miles (506 kilometres) off the coast of Buenaventura, Colombia in the eastern Pacific Ocean. In 1996 Malpelo was recognised as a Colombian Fauna and Flora Sanctuary, with a six mile marine protected area around the island. The island is the peak of a large submarine volcanic ridge that rises from depths of 13,123 feet (4000 metres) to reveal itself as the tiny, solitary rock of Malpelo. Get chills down your spine in 'The Fridge' and 'The Freezer', just two of a number of exciting dive sites offering an incredible mix of marine-life including Hammerheads, huge concentrations of Eagle Rays and 'waves' of Silky Sharks you may need to pack your woolly socks for these dives! Silkies are known for their curiosity towards divers and hundreds, mainly young females, form impressive schools at Malpelo. Located isolated in the tropical Pacific, 300 miles southwest of Costa Rica, lies the world's largest uninhabited island and famous Cocos Island Marine Park. A rugged and incredibly beautiful island, this World Heritage Site is the crown jewel of Costa Rica's many national parks. The trip to this diver's dream takes 32-36 hours each way from Puntarenas in Costa Rica. It is recognised as one of the outstanding dive locations on earth and offers probably one of the best places in the world to go diving with sharks Hammerhead, Silky, Silver-tip and White-tip. Not to mention the tuna, snappers, Manta Rays, dolphins and occasional Whale Sharks and Humpback Whales.
