Intrepid visitors can expect a magical and authentic experience at Raja 4 Divers dive resort on the private island of Pulau Pef in central Raja Ampat, Indonesia.

Intimate and private, the ten spacious overwater bungalows each sleep up to four people and feature a large furnished terrace. Locally designed, they have been built to maximise the airflow and promote well-being. The adjacent semi-enclosed bathroom features a traditional ‘mandi’ with hot and cold water for washing. Amenities include a small fridge, tea and coffee facilities, mosquito nets and repellent, towels, soap and shampoo, a safe, multiple plug sockets and an iPad, pre-loaded with useful apps for use during your stay. A rustic luxury experience awaits the intrepid traveller.

At the heart of the resort, the open air overwater restaurant is the meeting point for all guests, where all meals are served on one long table and snacks are available throughout the day. Meals are typically Indonesian served in buffet style. The kitchen team are happy to help with requests and cooking lessons. The bar and outdoor lounge is popular especially at sunset. Massage treatments are available as are a multitude of local activities including diving, snorkelling, kayaking, hiking, birding board games, table tennis and relaxing in your hammock. WiFi internet access is available. Only cash payments are accepted for local extras.

Located 48 kilometres south of the equator, the tropical climate ensures a constant temperature of 28C year round (above and below) with occasional short sharp showers. Transfer to resort is on a Saturday and involves a three hour boat journey. Special seasonal rates are available for under 30s.

Raja 4 Divers

Step from the jetty into the world’s richest seascape and discover the wonderful diversity, variety and colour of the 60+ dive sites within reach from resort. The PADI affiliated full service facility operates daily boat and house reef diving, all delivered with a huge smile from the international and local dive crew. In addition, there is a dedicated air-conditioned camera room facility.

Three custom built boats are moored at the end of the jetty where kit is stored and dive briefings happen. The boats are fully equipped and transport a maximum of eight divers. The conditions and range of habitat support a stupendous biodiversity of marine life and offer an incredible diving experience.

Expect pristine reefs and huge numbers of fish life, endemic species, sheltered bays, strong currents, colourful reefs, mangroves, tiny critters, sharks, turtles, mantas and whales. Divers and snorkellers report regular sightings of ghost pipefish, tasselled wobbegong, pygmy seahorse, bumphead parrotfish and the list goes on.

A limited amount of equipment is available to rent. Nine and eleven litre aluminium tanks with DIN valves are provided (INT adaptors at resort). Nitrox 32% is complimentary for qualified divers. Average water temperature is 29C and visibility up to 20 metres.
