The vast Komodo National Park is one of Indonesia's most iconic and exciting dive areas, and is best dived by liveaboard to fully appreciate the area's riches.
Officially declared a World Heritage Site in 1991, Komodo National Park is one of the largest protected zones on the planet. It consists of three major islands - Komodo, Rinca and Padar - as well as a number of smaller ones. Only on these legendary islands do Komodo dragons, survivors of the prehistoric carnivores that thrived in tropical Asia some 100 million years ago, still live and roam freely.
Liveaboard itineraries vary from seven to ten nights in duration. The itinerary below is based on a seven night trip on board the Mermaid II.
Typical Itinerary
-
Day 1:
Depart the UK for Bali, Indonesia
-
Day 2:
Arrive in Bali and transfer to your overnight accommodation
-
Day 3:

The waters offer an incredible variety of marine habitats and life including sharks, manta rays, teeming reefs and rare critters.
A 5mm full wetsuit is recommended for some of the colder dive sites on these itineraries. Whilst each itinerary may be different, all boats will visit the top dive sites in the park as well as Moyo Island (massive elephant and barrel sponges) and Sangeang (famous for its critters).

Alternatively, extend your trip with time to explore this 'Island of the Gods', home to a fascinating culture, beautiful scenery and more great diving.
