St Lucia’s sheltered waters of Anse Chastanet are home to over 500 species of reef fish and thriving coral reefs, offering ideal conditions for scuba diving at pristine sites protected from Atlantic swells.
St Lucia is a sought-after Caribbean diving destination, famed for its iconic twin volcanic spires, the Pitons, which rise dramatically from the sea. These UNESCO World Heritage-listed volcanic spires create a stunning backdrop for some of the best diving the Caribbean Sea has to offer, and there's no better base to explore it from than the Anse Chastanet Resort.
The resort's own PADI 5-star dive centre, Scuba St Lucia, provides direct access to the Anse Chastanet reef, a highlight for many divers that's easily reached from the shore. This location is particularly well-suited to relaxed shore dives, and is an ideal spot for macro photography. Its lush turtle grass beds and shallow coral gardens provide a habitat for a vibrant community of marine life. Divers can delight in searching for elusive seahorses, frogfish, and pipefish, or watch parrotfish and trumpetfish weave through the reef. The keen-eyed may also spot peacock flounders camouflaged on the sandy bottom, or find banded coral shrimp hiding in crevices.
For those keen to explore further, a short boat ride from the resort’s private jetty opens up a remarkable array of dive sites. Among them, the celebrated Superman's Flight stands out—a thrilling drift dive along a dramatic wall where divers are frequently rewarded with sightings of turtles and rays gliding past vibrant soft corals and barrel sponges.
