This indulgent 5-star hotel is situated a few minutes' walk from the vibrant centre of Madeira’s capital, Funchal. The hotel provides expansive ocean views and direct access the Atlantic Ocean with the onsite dive centre, perfect for scuba divers.
The Superior rooms are an excellent option, each a generous size complete with private balcony. These rooms can be configured as a twin or double plus the option of a sofa bed for a third person, adjoining rooms are also available for families. Each room is fully equipped for guests’ comfort, with free WiFi, air-conditioning, cable TV, mini fridge, and ample space in the en suite bathroom. Suites are available which have a separate living area.
Onsite are five different restaurants. The Ocean Buffet Restaurant has far-reaching views over the Atlantic Ocean and the resort’s gardens, serving breakfast and dinner daily. The Ristorante Mamma Mia provides flavours from Italy while the Koi Sushi Restaurant specialises in Japanese cuisine, for those looking for local delights the Casa Das Espetadas and Sabor a Mar will satisfy. Guests can find space at one of three salt-water pools including a dedicated Aquatic Kid’s World pool. There's also a fitness centre, spa, piano bar, and snooker lounge.
The Capreia Dive Club is onsite at the VidaMar Hotel Resort, on the ocean front. Divers can use hotel facilities such as hot showers and changing room. The dive centre has a semi-rigid boat complete with side ladder, with a capacity of 14 divers. Each morning the RIB will whisk divers to close by sites, usually only 10-30 minutes, with the surface interval spent at sea before the second dive.
A complete range of equipment is available for hire, and nitrox is available at additional cost. The centre is both PADI and SSI affiliated and can conduct a full range course from bubblemaker for children and learning to dive, to more advanced dive courses and technical diving. For entry level courses the saltwater infinity pool at the VidaMar Hotel Resort Madeira is used for a safe and controlled learning environment.
