Embark on an short break dive adventure to the fjords of Norway in search of fascinating WWII shipwrecks, imposing kelp forests and exceptional marine life.
Based out of Gulen Dive Resort on the shores of the mighty Sognefjord, spend five days or more exploring the wealth of diving opportunities this region has to offer.
An area of immense strategic importance during WWII, the area boasts over 30 superbly preserved shipwrecks, including the vast German freighter, the Frankenwald. A great option for groups and dive clubs.
Suggested Itinerary
Day1: Fly to Bergen
On arrival, transfer north by minibus to Gulen Dive Resort, around a two hour drive away, to begin a four night stay. This excellent local dive centre offers simple yet comfortable accommodation.
The rest of today is yours at leisure to settle into your new surroundings and get ready for your diving adventure.
Days2-3: Dive wrecks, kelp forests & more
Enjoy two boat dives a day exploring the local dive sites around Sognefjord, with an additional shore dive on the house reef in the afternoon.
The 122 metre Frankenwald is the area’s signature dive site and worthy of more than one dive to uncover her secrets. The unique twin wrecks of the Ferndale and Parat, the SS Havda and the Bandak are also well worth exploring. The wrecks of this area are as intriguing as they are impressive, often with competing stories as to their demise, or indeed their purpose.
Away from the wrecks, the area around Gulen boasts fabulous and unusual marine life including thorntail stingrays, wolf fish, monkfish and a number of smaller delights.
Day4: Final day’s diving
Make a further three dives today, two from the boat and one from shore, before rounding off your stay at the friendly Gulen Dive Resort with an evening of fun in the resort’s own ‘200 Bar’.
Day5: Explore Bergen & fly back to the UK
Complete your Norwegian adventure with a day of sightseeing around the beautiful city of Bergen. Highlights include the historic district of Bryggen, the Fløyen railway, and the fabulous vistas of mountains and fjords.
Head to the airport later today for your return flight home, and the end of an adventure to remember.
