Nestled on the shores of a beautiful and remote Norwegian fjord two hours north of Bergen, Gulen Dive Resort is the gateway to explore the superb wrecks and cold water diving opportunities of the mighty Sognefjord.
An ideal option for groups, Gulen Dive Resort features an accommodation block with eight simple rooms comprising of twin or bunk beds and shared bathrooms. A generous shared lounge and well equipped kitchen provides a great place to relax and socialise after diving, with options for self catered or catered stays.
Next door, the excellent dive centre caters for divers of all abilities, and also features a bar, an outdoor area for dining or relaxing and even a hot tub.
Gulen Dive Centre
Gulen Dive Resort has a well equipped on-site dive centre that is able to cater for recreational, rebreather and technical divers.
There are up to 30 historic and fascinating wrecks to explore, including Norway’s finest wreck dive, the huge Frankenwald. Standing upright on 44 metres of water, this 122 metre long German freighter is a truly magnificent sight, requiring several dives to explore all her secrets. Other iconic wrecks include the twin wrecks of the Ferndale and Parat, the SS Havda and the Bandak. Technical divers may enjoy Gulen’s most recently discovered wreck, the KNM Uller mine layer.
In addition to superb wreck diving, this region supports exceptional diversity and vibrant kelp forests, with thorntail stingrays, wolfish, monkfish and all manner of smaller marine life and crustaceans to discover. Spring sees a profusion of colourful nudibranchs with over 70 species discovered here, while dog sharks can be seen in summer months.
Daily boat trips are made from the dive resorts two dive boats, generally making two boat dives per day. In addition to boat diving, the resort features an excellent house reef, home to the resident wolffish, Eric. Nitrox and other gas mixes are available for suitably qualified divers.
