Diving around the Moalboal peninsula on the west coast of Cebu Island is possible year round. There are about 25 recognised dive sites, with many more being discovered all the time.
The range of dive sites is excellent with healthy hard coral reefs, vertical walls, cathedral like caves, canyons and caverns; the majority being 5-20 minutes boat ride away depending on your chosen resort. The area is suitable for snorkellers.
Popular with photographers, there is a health biodiversity of macro life on the reefs, especially at Discovery Point. Expect to see ornate ghost pipefish, shrimp, porcelain crabs, nudibranch and a plethora of reef fish.
Pescador Island is a must for more experienced divers. Here you’ll dive the cathedral, along the wall, search for smaller life on the plateaus and look out for larger marine life in the blue. Turtles are seen on most dives and mandarin fish can be seen courting in the shallows of Talisay Wall at twilight. One of the main draws for divers is the permanent sardine baitball which attracts larger marine life such as tuna and jacks; it’s a unique diving experience. You may even be lucky and get a glimpse of a whale shark.
