Join this small group tour to Mozambique, aimed at more adventurous divers looking to experience the very best of Mozambique's scuba diving opportunities.

Mozambique’s vast coastline offers abundant opportunities for divers, including those looking for some of the ocean’s largest and most impressive animals. This tour is an outstanding option for divers looking for a fun land-based diving adventure. Your itinerary includes 24 dives, plenty of camaraderie and the promise of some big animal encounters.

The adventure begins in Ponta do Ouro, a small town close to the South African border, and a hotspot for thrilling shark encounters. Our next stop is Tofo, home to some of Mozambique's most famous dive sites, with possible encounters with whale sharks and manta rays if you're lucky. Our final stop is a very special one. You'll be one of the few people to dive Morrungulo, a quiet outpost of Mozambique that has some superb dive sites, and more chances for big fish encounters.

In addition to this group tour, you may also explore Mozambique on a tailor-made diving adventure, or as a small private group - contact us to discuss your requirements.

Typical Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Depart the UK for Mozambique

  2. Day 2: Arrive in Ponta do Ouro

Arrive to Maputo, Mozambique’s capital city and transfer to the coastal town of Ponta do Ouro with other guests, a journey of around two and a half hours.

This afternoon, settle into your new surroundings and get to know your fellow British and European tour guests. You spend the next five nights in Ponta do Ouro at the Planet Scuba Guesthouse. The accommodation is centrally located, just a 2-minute walk to the beach and nearby restaurants.

  3. Days 3-6 : Dive Ponta do Ouro

Enjoy a total of ten boat dives while in Ponta do Ouro, including two shark dives.

Ponta do Ouro is renowned as a truly exceptional destination for encounters with a variety of impressive shark species, most notably in an area known as the Pinnacles. Possible sightings include bull shark, Zambezi shark, silver-tip, dusky shark and hammerhead shark.

  4. Day 7: Continue to Tofo

We have an early start this morning for the long drive north to Tofo, your next diving location. Please note, this is a 9-hour journey. There are plenty of breaks and refreshment stops, but guests need to be comfortable with this amount of travelling.

A friendly coastal town and tourist destination, Tofo is also an outstanding location for regular encounters with a range of exciting marine life.

This evening, settle into your accommodation on Tofo Beach, Blu @ Tofo, and enjoy the wonderful ocean ambience.

  5. Days 8-11 : Dive Tofo

Enjoy more dives, exploring the best dive sites around Tofo Beach. Tofo is renowned as one of the best places in the world to swim with whale sharks, the world’s largest non-cetacean animal. Adult whale sharks average around nine metres in length, and yet despite their colossal size are harmless to humans.

Other possible sightings include leopard shark, grey reef shark, nurse shark, guitar shark, dolphin and manta ray.

Evenings are spent experiencing Tofo’s fantastic musical and culinary nightlife.

  6. Day 12: Continue to Morrungulo

Today, we travel around three hours farther north to Morrungulo, Mozambique's newest diving hotspot. Spend your final three nights in Mozambique at the Peri Peri Dive Camp, a custom-built dive lodge ideally located to explore the exciting dive sites this area has to offer.

  7. Days 13-14 : Dive Morrungulo

Enjoy a further four dives over the next two days. Morrungulo boasts an unspoilt expanse of beach along with a pristine reef system. The marine life here's abundant and the opportunity to bump into some breathtakingly big megafauna can be easily accomplished. Possible highlights include dolphin, eagle rays, manta rays, white-tip shark, leopard shark and tiger shark.

  8. Day 15: Depart Mozambique

Your time in Mozambique comes to a close today. Say goodbye to your fellow guests and transfer to Vilanculos, around two and a half hours away for your onward flight to South Africa, and home.

  9. Day 16: Arrive UK

Please note: This tour is for more experienced divers only, with a good level of fitness. We recommend being Advanced Open Water qualified with at least 30 dives, and recent diving experience.

The tour includes some longer road transfers of up to nine hours, so participants must be comfortable with this amount of travel.
