Reflections on our Indonesia Honeymoon

For their honeymoon, Adam and Adriana chose Raja Ampat in Indonesia. In this blog, they share highlights from their trip, including vibrant reefs and close marine encounters. If you're considering a dive holiday for your honeymoon, their experience offers a real insight into what to expect.

As scuba diving addicts, it was inevitable that we decided to book a diving trip for our honeymoon. It was an agonisingly long wait for Indonesia to open its borders again following the pandemic but the unforgettable experience was worth every second.

Pygmy seahorse in Raja Ampat, Indonesia. We contacted Dive Worldwide to book our trip and dealt with several of the team during the process. The knowledge of Phil and the team is unrivalled, and we were confident that we were in safe hands. As clients, we have high expectations; those expectations were always met. We opted for a resort based stay at Papua Paradise Eco Resort with a dive package included and all our needs were met.

Jetty at Papua Paradise Resort in Raja Ampat, Indonesia. The itinerary was perfectly constructed, we took the advice of the team at Dive Worldwide to make some changes to our proposed plan. Had we not taken the advice, we would have missed flights. Thankfully everything went seamlessly.

Dive boat from Papua Paradise Resort in Raja Ampat, Indonesia. The resort exceeded our expectations, the accommodation was rustic, traditional and authentic but all our needs were met and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. The diving, what can I say; it was mind-blowing. Raja Ampat has everything, vibrant flourishing coral reefs, wrecks, macro life, large pelagics, sharks and mantas. The abundance of marine diversity is staggering.

Manta ray in Raja Ampat, Indonesia. It doesn’t end there, the scenery above the water is just as beautiful with no shortage of things to do on land ranging from bird watching tours and cruises (including birds of paradise), local village visits, jungle treks and of course the stunning Piaynemo viewpoint. The dive team at Papua Paradise deserve a special mention. Our guide, Yulens, was exceptional; great fun, helpful, safety conscious, knowledgeable and an absolute master at finding the impossible.

Would we consider going back? Absolutely! Aerial of the beach at Papua Paradise Resort in Raja Ampat, Indonesia.
