Wadi Sabarah rewrites the book on Red Sea Diving. Peaceful, right on the beach, and built with repurposed fossilised coral limestone, the lodge feels bright and cool in the Egyptian sun.
The lodge has 47 rooms and three suites, and each room is unique in design. All have a sea view terrace or balcony with en suite bathrooms. Standard, superior, and premium rooms are determined by size and pool, restaurant, and beach access.
The lodge’s Medemia pool hovers like a sapphire oasis in the desert; the ocean and desert views are spectacular. Tamarisk Restaurant and Bar offers an elevated vista with the ocean, the desert, and the botanical gardens all vying for your attention. The menu is prepared each day and designed to sample a variety of Egyptian cuisine. Karen’s Living Room is part library, part museum, and is full of Egyptian history, nature, and conservation. It’s a quiet space to understand the land on which you stand. Jeep safaris to the local desert, natural and authentic sites, and even the Valley of the Camels are easily arranged.
The lodge’s attention to its environment is superb. It’s powered by solar and uses a reverse osmosis process on desalinated water. The botanical garden is rich in plants used in traditional medicine grown from seeds collected in the desert. Its creator, Dr. Irina Springuel, is always happy to guide the interested on a tour covering the 40 species she nurtures.
