Garden Island is a boutique resort in Taveuni, located on the waterfront with far reaching views over the Somosomo Strait.
Located on the waterfront overlooking the Somosomo Strait the resort features 30 comfortable and well appointed rooms with modern amenities. The 15 oceanview rooms are located upstairs and the suites, downstairs; both with spectacular views, especially at sunset. All rooms feature a king or twin bed, air-conditioning and en-suite bathroom, TV and DVD player, mini fridge, tea and coffee facilities and a hairdryer. WiFi internet access is available.
Facilities include a swimming pool, restaurant and bar and a Nature Spa located in its own private bure offering local treatments and massages. Local eco-tours and adventures can be arranged from resort and honeymoon and wedding packages are available to to book. The resort features a dive centre offering daily boat dives to nearby sites in the Somosomo Strait.
The resort is a 15 minute road transfer from the domestic airport on Taveuni Island.
The on-site PADI 5-star Resort offers a range of courses and operates daily boat dives to a variety of sites including Rainbow Reef and the deeper fringing reefs of Vanua Levu in the Somosomo Strait, all within a maximum 30 minute boat ride away. The daily tidal currents help move the nutrient rich waters through the Strait providing ideal conditions for soft coral growth as well as sustaining a great density and diversity of marine life.
Diving highlights are plenty and it’s the Great White Wall that entices most visitors. In addition to this unique site expect to encounter white-tip, bull and grey sharks, turtles, rays, schools of barracuda, big eye jacks and tuna as well as an amazing array of colourful soft corals, nudibranch, giant clams and garden eels. You will want to add Pot Luck, Fish Factory, Jerry’s Jellies and Barracuda Hole to your log book.
Water temperature ranges from and average of 26C (May-Oct) to 28C (Nov-Apr) and Nitrox is available.
