Embudu Village offers uncomplicated comforts and a friendly atmosphere, with tropical gardens and white sand beaches. The house reef is bustling with life plus thila and channel dives nearby, this tiny island is pure Maldivian simplicity.
Embudu Village offers just two room types to keep things simple. The Superior Beach Bungalows are set around the island edge, under the tropical canopy. Each is bright and airy, decorated with contrasting, contemporary furniture. The Overwater Villas are set together in small groups, each with a four-poster bed and unique ocean window looking directly into the lagoon below. All rooms have enclosed en suite bathrooms, air-conditioning, and basic amenities.
Three meals a day are served buffet style at the main restaurant. Theme nights provide a selection of international flavours and sweet treats throughout the week. The bar is right on the beach, with views out to the ocean. It’s open throughout the day for a variety of beverages including cocktails, mocktails and soft drinks. In the afternoon, the coffee shop opens for a pick-me-up. Private beach dining can be arranged for any special occasion or to simply celebrate being on holiday.
There's more than diving on this little island. A selection of water sports are available including kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and motorised adventures. Excursions to local islands and the capital city of Male add a touch of culture. Back at sea, boat trips for dolphin watching and to dedicated snorkelling spots are on offer too.
WiFi is free of charge throughout the resort to keep you connected. The resort is a speedy 20-minutes boat ride from Male.
Diverland Embudu
Diverland at Embudu Village is an SSI-affiliated centre offering house reef and boat diving alongside a range of courses from learning to dive to Divemaster. With over 30 years experience in the Maldives, divers are in safe hands.
The wonderful house reef has six entry points, and can be dived guided or unguided, or is great to explore by simply snorkelling. Marine life such as turtles, wrasse, moray eels and unusual coral formations can be found on the house reef.
Throughout the day, Diverland Embudu offers up to three boat dives, typically returning to resort after each dive. Lankan Manta Point is a popular dive site where manta rays can be seen at the cleaning stations from August to November; it's also possible to see manta rays at other dive sites throughout the year.
