Christmas Island offers a unique diving experience. Explore the surrounding water and marvel at the myriad of tropical fish that swim by in only metres of water, while a short distance away, divers can cruise the drop-off, which plunges dramatically into the abyss.
Each year at the beginning of the wet season (Oct-Nov) an estimated 43 million red crabs begin a spectacular migration from the forest to the coast to breed and release their eggs into the sea, with baby crabs returning approximately one month later. It is no coincidence that the spawning of the red crab population coincides with the arrival of the whale sharks (Nov-Apr).
