The MV Marco Polo liveaboard, operated by Sea Bees, sets sail in season to explore the signature dive sites of the Similan Islands including Koh Bon, Koh Tachai and the remote Richelieu Rock.
The 23 metre long Marco Polo accommodates 12 passengers in six twin bunk cabins furnished in a contemporary style. All have individual air-conditioning units and en-suite bathroom with plenty of storage space and charging points. International and Thai cuisine is served on board this popular boat, one with its own charm, and popular with repeat guests. There is a spacious dive deck and party deck where you can relax with friends in the shade sharing your diving experiences, or check your photos and videos in the comfortable salon.
The flagship Sea Bees vessel heads out from Tap Lamu throughout the season (Nov-Apr) to explore the best sites of the Andaman Sea on two separate adventures. The shorter two night trip departs on a Friday morning, the itinerary concentrating on the northern islands of Koh Bon, Koh Tachai, the remote Richelieu Rock, plus a dive on the Boonsung wreck before returning to shore. The longer four night trip departs on Sunday evening beginning with an overnight journey to the Similan Islands, where breathtaking scenery, warm waters and white sand beaches await. Up to four dives a day are offered on each itinerary including a night dives. Diving courses (SSI) and Nitrox are available.
Dive sites offer visibility of up to 30 metres and are characterised by gigantic granite boulders above and below the water line. Expect to see plenty of thriving coral reefs with colourful sponges and seafans, plus a whole spectrum of marine life including several species of anemonefish, barracuda, snapper, nurse sharks, moray eels, batfish, grouper, hawksbill turtles, shovel nose rays, garden eels, blue-spotted and eagle rays and frogfish, lion fish, ribbon eels - the list goes on! You should also keep an eye out for leopard shark, manta rays and whale sharks. Access to the dive sites is from the stern with two ladders offering easy access in and out of the water.
