The Bugis is innovative and environmentally focused in its design, providing an unforgettable snorkelling and cultural experience in Indonesia’s Coral Triangle.
This purpose-built snorkelling vessel was handcrafted from reclaimed teak, designed with sustainability, comfort, and style in mind. The Bugis liveaboard has the environment at the forefront of its design, from the locally sourced meals to its open-air design to parenting MPA and local NGO’s to help support the communities you’ll engage with.
The Bugis accommodates up to eight guests in four cabins, all on the main deck. Each cabin has a bunk configuration of a queen bed on the lower level with a single bed above and en suite facilities. There's no air-conditioning in the cabins, however the rooms remain a comfortable temperature with two fans in addition to the large windows and vents to the outside to promote air flow.
The communal areas are sleek and simple in their design. The main desk as a covered, "wall-less" seating area where meals are served. The upper deck is a larger partially-covered relaxing area where you can enjoy the sun and shade at your choice. Meals are a blend of Indonesian and western, all sourced from local markets that are peppered in throughout your itinerary.
Taking its environmental design a step further, there's a no single-use plastic policy, eco-friendly and biodegradable products are used to reduce waste, and the vessel has solar panels on board, which powers the vessel's electricity whenever possible. This not only means its emissions are reduced, but also provides a serene ambiance aboard. You'll hear the waves gentle lap the hull and enjoy your sunset drinks in silence. The engine, when they're in use, partially run on a groundbreaking synthetic fuel created from waste plastic.
With its snorkelling only departure, the crew of up to nine provide excellent service on board. Its season sailings cover Raja Ampat, Komodo, and Wakatobi on its Coral Triangle Snorkelling Adventure.
