Typical Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Depart the UK

    Depart the UK for Asia, and the beginning of your journey to Papua New Guinea. Those wishing to break up the journey with time to explore Singapore are welcome to do so.
  2. Day 2: Continue to Papua New Guinea

    Arrive in Singapore this afternoon and continue your journey this evening towards Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea’s capital. Any guests wishing to join from outside the UK may join the main group in Singapore.
  3. Day 3: Begin your stay at Walindi Plantation Resort

    Arriving in Port Moresby this morning, take a short connecting flight over the beautiful mountains and landscapes of mainland Papua New Guinea towards the island of New Britain. Here you're met and transferred to Walindi Plantation Resort, where you can relax and recover from your journey. 

    The next 11 nightsare spent in this wonderful location, nestled on the shores of Kimbe Bay. This owner-operated resort has welcomed visitors to discover the reefs and nearby rainforest for more than 30 years. You can expect a personalised service and a relaxed environment, complemented by friendly staff who provide authentic hospitality.

    We’ll be using the comfortable en-suite plantation rooms for this trip, with the option to upgrade to beachfront bungalows upon request. All meals are included in your stay.

  4. Days 4-13 : Explore & Dive Papua New Guinea!

    This region is renowned as one of the most biodiverse areas of Papua New Guinea, a country famed for its incredible variety of marine life. 70% of all coral species in the Indo-Pacific region have been found in and around New Britain, with these vibrant, healthy reefs home to a multitude of mesmerising marine species.

    Enjoy up to 27 dives as part of your stay, with Nitrox included on every dive. Typically, two boat dives are offered in the morning, with a further dive available after lunch. Dive sites commonly visited are all within one hour of the resort, with local sites as close as ten minutes away. 

    Highlights include diving at Susan’s Reef with its vibrant sea whips and gorgonian fans, enjoying the all-encompassing South Ema, spotting a friendly resident turtle at Joelle’s Reef, and visiting the intact Zero WWII fighter plane wreck.

    For those looking to try their hand at some bird spotting or photography, dives can be exchanged for a local birding excursion.

  5. Day 14: Depart Papua New Guinea

    Your Pacific adventure comes to an end today as you begin your journey home, flying back to Singapore via Papua New Guinea’s capital.

    Arriving early evening, tonight is spent in a hotel close to the airport. Should you wish to extend your time in Singapore, please ask our friendly team to make the arrangements for you.

  6. Day 15: Arrive home

    After breakfast, return to the airport for your direct flight back to the UK, arriving later this evening.

Please note: This trip is suited to more experienced divers only. Please also be aware that Papua New Guinea is a remote location, requiring lengthy travel.

He began his diving career in Southeast Asia in the early 1990s and has since amassed more than 3,000 dives all over the world, from Antarctica to the Sudan. Simon’s is editor of the UK’s biggest diving publication, SCUBA magazine, but he also writes for both Times and Telegraph Travel, in addition to numerous others. A patron of the Shark Trust charity, Simon’s obsession with photographing sharks has taken him to many world-class destinations. Now, he wants to share his insight and experience with fellow divers.
