Tufi Dive Centre
The PADI affiliated dive centre offers courses and up to three daily boat dives to the surrounding fjords and reefs throughout the year from one of their four custom dive boats. In Jul, Aug & Sep expect plenty of muck diving in the fjords, sheltering from the wind.
Divers and snorkellers can also experience the diversity and macro marine life on the house reef. Every conceivable species of goby, nudibranch, mandarin fish, ghost pipe, banded pipe and a plethora of other fascinating creatures can be found at the Wharf in shallow water offering the diver a Mecca for underwater macro photography. Tufi Wharf was occupied by the Japanese and there are plenty of wrecks and debris to explore. With very little current in the fjords, many sponges and coral species grow prolifically and there are some very large sponges and shelf corals to be seen.
The outer reefs are home to large pelagic species such as manta rays, schooling barracuda, tuna and hammerhead sharks. Experienced divers may have the chance to explore the deeper wrecks of the B17 Bomber (50m) and the cargo ship S Jacob (60m).
There are over 30 majestic dive sites to explore in these clear tropical waters with visibility often exceeding 30 metres. Encounter the friendly manta, often seen at Bev's, Minor and Marian's reefs, or the resident turtles at Dyer's Reef in Amunyan Bay. Watch the garden eels at Tony's Bommie and enjoy an explosion of life along Cyclone Wall and at Mulloway Reef (strong currents).
