This small family run boutique resort is a unique colourful property, situated on the south coast of Grenada and surrounded by tropical gardens.
The resort is surrounded by sloping gardens and each guest room has been carefully designed, built and individually decorated by the owners. The 62 rooms, suites and villas are colourful and cheery, all with comfortable furnishings designed for their environment. All feature air-conditioning and en-suite bathroom as well as a fully equipped kitchen, cable TV, fan and balcony with views overlooking the bay. Complimentary WiFi internet access is available throughout the resort.
The 25 True Blue style rooms are located around the grounds, the Indigo rooms being most popular with divers as they are closest to the dive centre. In addition, you can upgrade to a Tower, Waterfront or Honeymoon suite. Those travelling as a family or group should consider one of the five lavish 2-bedroom villas with their own infinity pool overlooking the marina. The self-sustaining, eco-friendly Cocoa Pod rooms and suites offer stunning views of the ocean and tropical gardens and have been designed with space and comfort in mind, as well as bringing a little of the Caribbean style inside. The resort features three wheelchair friendly rooms which can be adapted further according to the client’s needs.
Facilities include a marina, the Dodgy Dock restaurant (popular with locals and tourists alike) four swimming pools, a gym, shop, Blue Haven Spa, meeting room, dive centre and concierge service. Activities include yoga and cookery classes, rum and chocolate tasting, hobie-cat sailing, kayaks and yacht charters. There are facilities and activities available for younger children and diving families should take advantage of the three hour complimentary childcare per day!
In quieter months, discounted dive packages are offered for single travellers, making this a great option for those looking to keep single supplements to a minimum.
Aquanauts Grenada
Aquanauts Grenada are based onsite at True Blue Bay Resort. The professional outfit offering daily dives from their three customised boats and courses for all, from Bubblemaker (from eight years old) to speciality courses such as Deep Diver and SDI Solo Diver, great for photographers. For those looking to take their diving further, Aquanauts offer twin set and sidemount diving options. Nitrox 30% is complimentary for qualified divers with additional mixes available for a local charge.
Local dive sites include a wide variety for all experience levels and for every taste - be it shallow coral gardens, unspoiled reefs or interesting wrecks. Grenada is renowned for its large portfolio of wrecks, the most famous being the Bianca C dubbed the ‘Titanic of the Caribbean’. Average water temperature ranges from 25-30C and visibility from 20-70 metres.
Diving highlights within the marine park include Dragon Bay, Happy Hill and the Sculpture Park, all with plenty of marine life to observe (moray eels, lobster, eagle rays and turtles) and sites are suitable for all. There are plenty of sites for wreck divers including the San Juan and King Mitch which attract plenty of pelagic species including nurse sharks. Experienced divers can enjoy a day trip to Isle de Rhonde (weather permitting) famous for its steep walls covered in fans and colourful sponges as well as plenty of pelagic marine life encounters.
For those staying at resorts on Grand Anse Beach, such as Blue Horizon Garden Resort and Spice Island Beach Resort, pick up is offered on the first day by the dive centre. Equipment can be left at the dive centre during the stay. The resorts will be able to assist in organising taxi transfers on the subsequent diving days. Pick up by boat from Grand Anse Beach may be possible, subject to daily itinerary and minimum numbers.
