Located less than a mile from George Town, Sunset House is a moderately priced diving resort with easy access to the water and fantastic views of the Caribbean Sea.
Established over 60 years ago, this well known family run dive resort is a favourite with the locals as well as divers from all over the world. Built along a rocky shoreline, four low-rise buildings host 36 rooms, the SeaHarvest restaurant, dive shop and the famous outdoor bar, My Bar, frequented by the locals. The property is a 15 minute walk to town and caters for both divers and snorkellers.
Accommodation is simple, no-nonsense and comfortable. Choose from a regular courtyard or ocean view room, suite or apartment; all are 100% smoke free zones and all feature air-conditioning, en-suite bathroom and cable TV. Facilities include a swimming pool with waterfall and small whirlpool (not heated), an easy access sea pool, on-site dive centre and Cathy Church’s Photo Centre and Gallery as well as a shuttle bus service to George Town. WiFi internet access is complimentary throughout the property.
The on-site PADI affiliated 5-star IDC dive centre at Sunset House offers a full range of courses (Universal Referrals available), daily boat diving, shore diving and snorkelling trips.
The experienced and highly professional instructors will ensure your safety and that you have a memorable dive experience – whether it’s stepping out from the resort to see Amphitrite the mermaid and the wreck of the Nicholson or discovering the immense walls that Grand Cayman is so famous for. There’s a dive site for every day here. The fleet of custom made dive boats head out each morning to dive the colourful walls and reefs and the afternoons can be spent shore diving or heading out to dive the Kittiwake wreck or a Stingray City experience.
Sunset House is a great place to stay, especially if you have a mix of people with different diving or snorkelling requirements. Visibility is on average, around 30 metres and water temperature, 27C. Tanks have 'yoke' type valves. Nitrox is available.
