Located in the middle of the southern Raa Atoll, Reethi Faru Resort is a stunning tropical bio-luxury island paradise with a fringing reef and access to over 40 dive sites, with big fish action being the highlight.

Located on the private island of Filaidhoo, this tranquil resort blends intimacy and privacy with sustainable luxury, creating a unique environment and relaxing base for a diving holiday. The boutique resort features 145 villas and suites set amongst tropical gardens, alongside palm trees on the white-sand beach or over the crystal-clear water. Where possible the rooms have been built with locally sourced materials and all feature modern amenities including complimentary WiFi internet access, a mini-bar, safe and satellite TV. They can be configured as twin or double bed, have individual air-conditioning units, a semi-open bathroom and a furnished verandah.

Facilities include an infinity swimming pool, a health club and gym, the Coconut Spa, a water sports centre with motorised and non-motorised activities and a dive centre. A myriad of culinary experiences are available between six restaurants and six bars spread across the island including Dhiyavaru at the end of a jetty and open 24 hours a day. Haruge bar is the social hub of the island offering daily entertainment.

Sustainability and conservation initiatives include solar energy and biogas plant. Waste water is reused for irrigation and ‘Reethi Fen’ mineral water is produced on site. The resort is working in collaboration with Parley to manage plastic waste and recycling is common place. In addition there is a coral gardening program, and the team works closely with the Manta Trust and Olive Ridley Project. Once a month, the staff and guests can get involved in clean-ups and tree planting as well as attending talks and screenings, all helping towards the protection of the local environment and positive education about conservation.

Transfer from the international airport in Malé is by seaplane (40 minutes) or domestic flight and boat (60 minutes) to Reethi Faru, which translates as ‘beautiful reef’.

Sea Explorer Maldives

The PADI 5-star dive centre has an experienced multi-national team offering numerous courses, shore and daily boat diving. Blessed with a fantastic house reef, the island is suitable for snorkellers and divers of all abilities.

Diving is in small groups with just four divers to every instructor and experienced divers can explore the house reef independently but must be suitably qualified and complete a check dive. The majority of the boat dive sites can be reached within 45 minutes of resort and comprise of thilas, outer reefs, island reefs and channels. The island is located in the middle of the atoll so both sides are always accessible offering a variety of seasonal fish life.

Highlights include encounters with larger marine life including eagle rays, grey reef sharks, Napoleon wrasse, giant trevally and silver-tip sharks. Mantas are present for most of the year and snorkelling trips to Hanifaru Bay are available.

It is possible to rent equipment (Cressi). The dive centre has 10 and 12 litre tanks with DIN valves (adaptors available). Nitrox is complimentary for qualified divers.
