Experience an original Maldivian retreat at Makunudu Island, North Malé Atoll, where two hectares of lush vegetation mingle with just 36 traditional beach bungalows. Encircled by white sand and crystal-clear waters, this intimate hideaway has spectacular diving in its doorstep.

The resort's thatched Beach Bungalows evoke traditional Maldivian style for an intimate hideaway. Light furnishings offsetting dark wood floors and ceilings. Each bungalow is private and offers pure simplicity combined with natural beauty; mini-bar, air conditioning, desk and writing pad, rocking chair, king bed, and tea and coffee facilities. Each ensuite bathroom is complete with discrete open-air shower. Twin beds can be arranged upon request. There's a private patio set amoung the lush vegitation just steps to the paradise beach.

The Deluxe Beach Bungalows have the added perk of daily afternoon canapés served directly to the room, and complimentary sundowners at the Sunset Bar. These villas can be arranged with twin beds too. Complimentary Wi-fi is available throughout the resort, including in the Beach Bungalows and Deluxe Beach Bungalows.

The Araa Iru Restaurant serves international, Maldivian, seafood and Asian dishes, barbecues, green salads, and superb buffet style lunches all with genuine hospitality. You can swap the buffet breakfast for a sunrise breakfast on the beach. Alternative dining options include castaway sandbank dining experience and dinner in the romantic Malaafath tree house. Cocktails, soft drinks, coffee and more are served at the main bar, The Sand Bar, on the eastern end of the island throughout the day. The Sunset Bar, on the western shore, only opens during golden hour as the sun dips below the sea where your daily sundowner cocktail can be enjoyed. Near the arrival jetty is the Miyaru Bar, a great place to spot baby black tip reef sharks and juvenile nurse sharks. The accommodation is full board as standard with the option to upgrade to an all-inclusive package, this includes house wine, draught beers, selected spirits, cocktails, and snacks.

When not diving, the resort has a number of other amenities. Relaxing on the beach and snorkelling in the crystal clear waters is a given, with complimentary use of snorkeling equipment for all guests. The water sports centre also offers complimentary use of stand-up paddle boards or kayaks. Excursions to fishing villages and nearby Rock Island are possible.

The Aavun Spa offers a variety of treatments, including ayurvedic indian head massage, facials and other massages. Sailing, sunset dhoni cruise, fishing and even night fishing can be arranged. Guests can enjoy playing badminton, volleyball, or table tennis if you're feeling very active.

The PADI dive centre is equipped to offer courses in a classroom with air conditioning, and diving at local spots like Turtle or Shark Point. North Malé Atoll is home to rich, colourful diving with plenty of sharks, turtles, tuna, and manta rays to enjoy.

This intimate hideaway is an easy 45-minute speedboat ride into North Malé Atoll from Velana International Airport. Cruising up on arrival, through check in and experiencing genuine hospitality and this island paradise in moments, the original Maldivian retreat awaits.

Dive Ocean

Dive Ocean is a PADI 5-Star Resort and Eco Centre, and welcomes experienced divers and those who want to learn. The centre is situated on the beach, allowing you to walk directly to the ocean reef. The house reef is a beautiful place for beginner divers, but it has plenty of interest for experienced divers too.

Two morning boat dives are made each morning after breakfast on the regular schedule, with a third dive offered in the afternoon. A wide range of dive sites are available around North Malé Atoll and beyond, all within 45 minutes of the resort. Highlights include Madi Gaa, Finger Point and Manta Point. Night dives are offered on demand. All boat dives are conducted from the dive centre's own dhoni, and this centre goes the extra mile with a maximum of 12 divers and a ratio of four divers to one guide or instructor. Nitrox is complimentary for certified divers.

The ocean around this intimate hideaway is filled with life. The islands' location means easy access to more dive sites known for manta rays, sharks, turtles, and so much more. If you're interested in underwater conservation efforts, the team welcomes you to join them in their nursery efforts, where they are growing 420-plus corals.
