Located on the tiny island of Metita in the Morotai region of North Halmahera, Lotus Metita Island is a diver’s resort with peaceful and untouched reefs a stone's throw away.

Accommodation is designed to blend seamlessly with the tropical setting. Guests have a choice of wooden beachfront or interconnecting garden cottages, all featuring air-conditioning, open-air bathrooms, private verandahs with hammocks, and comfortable lounge areas. The intimate nature of the resort, with just six cottages, ensures a peaceful and personalised experience where guests can truly unwind while enjoying views of the beach or lush gardens.

A highlight of the resort is its exceptional underwater environment, with healthy coral reefs, sharks, turtles, rays, and rare macro life. Diving in this area has only just begun to be explored, with new dive sites being discovered regularly.

Alongside diving, guests can enjoy a variety of activities including island-hopping, sunset cruises, waterfall hikes and cultural excursions. The resort also features a saltwater swimming pool overlooking the ocean, along with a restaurant and lounge serving fresh seasonal cuisine. Ingredients are sourced from local fishermen and farmers, supporting nearby communities while providing guests with high-quality meals inspired by both Indonesian and European flavours.

Lotus Metita Island can be accessed by domestic flight from Manado or Jakata, via Tenate, which is scheduled a couple of times per week. A short car and boat ride is then taken to from Morotai island to Metita. Alternatively, a land and boat transfer can be arranged for a scenic drive through remote North Maluku Island. Due to the domestic flight routing, Lotus Metita Island can be easily twinned with Lembeh Strait, Manado and Bunaken, and the Bangka Archipelago.

With its untouched natural beauty, commitment to sustainability and access to some of North Halmahera’s untouched reefs, Lotus Metita Island offers divers a unique blend of adventure, relaxation and responsible tourism.

Lotus Divers Metita

Lotus Metita Island is home to the professional Lotus Divers dive centre, a PADI 5-Star facility offering diving, snorkelling and a range of dive courses for all experience levels. The dive centre has two custom dive boats, and typically two dives are conducted in the morning before returning to the resort for lunch. An optional third dive is at each diver’s discretion, or there's the option to kick back and enjoy the house reef. Boat facilities include refreshments served between dives, shade and sunny areas, an onboard toilet, first aid and emergency equipment.

The waters around Morotai have quickly earned their reputation for their healthy reefs, dramatic walls, colourful marine life, and a few historic wrecks have also been found. The house reef, located just steps from the beach, offers outstanding snorkelling and diving opportunities, with sightings of sea turtles, Napoleon wrasse, bumphead parrotfish and blacktip reef sharks regularly reported. Citing of the Halamhera epaulette 'walking' shark and the Lembeh sea dragon are even possible. Between dives, pilot whales and dolphins are known to cruise by, while eagle rays and blue-spotted rays can be seen below the waves.

The dive centre is equipped with a camera room, classroom, equipment rental, Nitrox facilities and purpose-built dive boats to support a world-class diving experience.
