Created as a scientific outpost, Coral Eye Resort has evolved into a resort welcoming those passionate about the ocean and exploration and offers a variety of accommodation types designed to complement the environment.

On the first floor of the Marine Outpost building are the Superior Rooms, each unique in design with a shared sea-view terrace. Within the gardens and fringing the beach are the popular detached Villas with modern design, indoor and outdoor lounges, and natural canopy all around. A two bedroom garden villa, perfect for families or friends, lies in the garden too. The Beachfront Pool Villas are a luxurious favourite, with private pool and generous footprint. All accommodations are en suite, whilst the villas have spacious open-air bathrooms, and all have a fan and air-conditioning, complimentary toiletries, WiFi, tea, coffee, and water.

At the heart of the Coral Eye Resort is the Beach Pavilion, with open verandah and gentle beach setting. Meals served at the restaurant are local and homemade. The freshest local ingredients from the two closest towns primarily provide food that combines European and Indonesian cuisine. The bar area spills onto the pool deck for dreamy sunset views.

The resort still functions as a marine outpost and welcomes researchers a few times a year to a space with access to all the tools they need and a community where they can swap and develop ideas. The Marine Outpost building was handcrafted using local artisans and materials, and it now hosts the reception, boutique and central lounge. Here you can find many of the reading and technical rooms.

When not diving, the resort can arrange land-based activities, too, with several possible excursions on Bangka Island and mainland North Sulawesi. The house reef has great snorkelling, and trips to snorkel further afield can be arranged. And if all that sounds too much, relax at the spa and enjoy a variety of massage and treatments.

Coral Eye Dive Centre

Coral Eye Dive Centre serves Coral Eye Resort on Bangka Island, which is in the heart of the Coral Triangle. This means over 30 world-class dive sites within 40 minutes of the beachfront dive centre.

If you enjoy a variety of topography and a rich and unique blend of marine life, then you'll be in absolute heaven. From volcanic sand to colourful fringing reefs to vibrant current-fed pinnacles and gentle mangroves, this location has a little of everything.

Daily dives leave around 8 am, making two dives before returning for lunch. Afternoon and night dives are possible, and an excursion to Lembeh Strait can be arranged, too. Dives are guided in groups of four by local guides with a wealth of experience and keen eyes.

The dive boats are hand-crafted specifically for diving and a comfortable backward roll entry. You can enjoy sun and shade and expect water, tea, coffee, and snacks. For minimal bubbles, the boats take a maximum of eight divers.

The dive centre has SCUBAPRO gear to hire and a wet room with hanging and storage space for personal gear too. 12 and 15ltr aluminium tanks are available with both INT and DIN connections. Photographers will love the dedicated camera room, and if you’re looking to learn something new, courses can be taken on a ratio of 2:1. The use of personal dive computers is strongly recommended and is available to hire should you need them.
