Created as a scientific outpost, Coral Eye Resort has evolved into a resort welcoming those passionate about the ocean and exploration and offers a variety of accommodation types designed to complement the environment.

The resort still functions as a marine outpost and welcomes researchers to a space with access to all the tools they need and a community where they can swap and develop ideas. This makes for superb mealtime conversation around the large square table in the main accommodation area, alternatively there are a selection of smaller dining tables for a more intimate evening. The main building was handcrafted using local artisans and materials. Here you can find many of the common areas and technical rooms.

On the first floor are the superior double and twin rooms, and a large sea-view terrace. Within the gardens are detached villas with indoor and outdoor lounges; there are garden or sea-view options. A two bedroom garden villa, perfect for families or friends, lies in the garden and has a large shared lounge area. All accommodations are en suite and have a fan and air-conditioning, complimentary toiletries, WiFi, tea, coffee, and water.

Staying at Coral Eye is always full board, and the food is local and homemade. The freshest local ingredients from the two closest towns primarily provide food that combines European and Indonesian cuisine.

When not diving, the resort can arrange land-based activities, too, with several possible excursions on Bangka Island and mainland North Sulawesi. The house reef has great snorkelling, and trips to snorkel further afield can be arranged. And if all that sounds too much, relax at the spa and enjoy a variety of massage and treatments.

Coral Eye Dive Centre

Coral Eye Dive Centre serves Coral Eye Resort on Bangka Island, which is in the heart of the Coral Triangle. This means over 30 world-class dive sites within 40 minutes of the beachfront dive centre.

If you enjoy a variety of topography and a rich and unique blend of marine life, then you'll be in absolute heaven. From volcanic sand to colourful fringing reefs to vibrant current-fed pinnacles and gentle mangroves, this location has a little of everything.

Daily dives leave around 8 am, making two dives before returning for lunch. Afternoon and night dives are possible, and an excursion to Lembeh Strait can be arranged, too. Dives are guided in groups of four by local guides with a wealth of experience and keen eyes.

The dive boats are hand-crafted specifically for diving and a comfortable backward roll entry. You can enjoy sun and shade and expect water, tea, coffee, and snacks. For minimal bubbles, the boats take a maximum of eight divers.

The dive centre has SCUBAPRO gear to hire and a wet room with hanging and storage space for personal gear too. 12 and 15ltr aluminium tanks are available with both INT and DIN connections. Photographers will love the dedicated camera room, and if you’re looking to learn something new, courses can be taken on a ratio of 2:1. The use of personal dive computers is strongly recommended and is available to hire should you need them.
