Camel Dive Club

Established in 1986, Camel Dive Club is an SSI Pro Instructor Training Centre located at Camel Dive Hotel in Naama Bay. The friendly international dive crew operate daily guided boat dives, snorkelling activities and a comprehensive range of courses. The centre caters for technical divers and is rebreather friendly. All public areas have full wheelchair access and the dive centre welcomes divers with additional needs.

Facilities at the dive centre include a multi-level diver training pool, equipment store room with lockers and a shop. The dive school is adjacent and includes a courtyard area plus two air-conditioned classrooms. Depending on your experience, certification and requirements you may need a private guide to dive (local supplement). This is a great place to learn to dive. All Open Water courses begin online by way of eLearning. This gives students more time in resort to complete the practical side in the pool and ocean plus the chance to log more dives once qualified.

Daily boat trips operate to the 30+ dive sites in the region including the Straits of Tiran and Ras Mohammed National Park. Regular full day trips to dive the legendary Thistlegorm and Dunraven wrecks operate throughout the week and may incur a local supplement. Night dives are subject to minimum numbers and can be booked locally.

Naama Bay has a gently sloping sandy seabed with several coral heads and seagrass areas, perfect for check divers, learning to dive and snorkellers. Certified divers will head out each morning on the dive boat from the jetty, a five minute walk away. Offering a personal service, diver guide ratio here is 6:1. Nitrox 32% is complimentary for qualified divers (up to two 12 litre tanks/day).

Underwater highlights are plentiful with an incredible marine life living amongst the coral gardens and wrecks. Ras Mohammed National Park includes sites such as Shark Reef an 800 metre deep wall located at the tip of the peninsula where the currents converge. The nutrient rich waters are perfect for corals to thrive and huge schools of snapper, bat fish and barracuda can be seen. Most of the Yolanda Wreck now lies beyond diving limits but some of the cargo can still be seen in the shallows. Here the rich coral gardens and small pinnacles are home to an abundance of marine life where Napoleon wrasse, scorpion fish and blue spotted rays reside.

The sites of the Straits of Tiran are numerous and spectacular with incredible underwater landscapes. The southern end of Jackson Reef lies in calm waters with plenty of marine life including a red anemone. The western corner is a shallow coral garden with resident schools of black snapper and red-toothed trigger fish, whilst the northern tip is dived more in the summer months in search of hammerhead shark sightings and the wreck of the Lara is a must for technical divers. Expect to encounter a multitude of marine life including nudibranch, hawksbill and green turtles, grouper, sharks and all kinds of reef fish.

The average water temperature is 25°C and visibility ranges from 15-50 metres. Camel Hotel & Dive Centre is a Green Fins member, a worldwide initiative to educate and empower people to reduce pressures on coral reefs by adopting sustainable tourism measures.
