This intimate resort is home to just six bungalows, all offering views over the ocean. The warm Indonesian hospitality laps through as each guest is treated to personal service above and below the waves.
Nestled in the remote Alor Archipelago of Indonesia, this intimate resort is a real getaway. The bungalows are nestled amongst the hillside, blending seamlessly with the lush surroundings.
With a commitment to sustainability, the team at Alor Tanapi Resort aim to minimise their ecological footprint while offering exceptional comfort, delicious cuisine and a personalised service.
Each room provides a king-sized bed with mosquito net, open-air bathroom, air-conditioning and private terrace with day bed or hammock to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. Some rooms are able to accommodate twin beds.
Meals are served in an open-plan restaurant and lounge area at the top of the resort, offering views over the Pantar Strait to the extinct volcanoes or Pura and Ternate. Three meals a day are provided. As much as possible, ingredients are sourced locally in collaboration with local farmers, with the menu drawing primarily on Asian cuisine, with international dishes also offered. Snacks, tea, coffee and drinking water are also provided.
Next to the restaurant, a comfortable lounge features sofas, a bar and a small library. Each evening brings beautiful sunsets for guests to enjoy as they unwind.
The resort is a gateway to some of the world’s most biodiverse and pristine dive sites. The Pantar Strait consists of more than 20 dive sites with beautiful, densely covered reefs full of macro life. Kalabahi Bay is renowned for its muck diving opportunities, while hammerhead sharks, mola mola and even blue whales are known to frequent these waters.
Alor Tanapi Dive Centre
The PADI-accredited dive centre at Alor Tanapi Dive Resort offers up to three dives per day from a custom-built fibreglass boat. Comfortably accommodating eight divers plus guides, two dives are typically offered in the morning, with a third dive in the afternoon. The focus is on flexibility and personal service, with a maximum guide to guest ratio of just four to one. Night dives can also be arranged on request.
The small dive centre occupies a convenient position near to the dock. The lower level has an outdoor shower, and facilities to rinse and store gear. There is also a dedicated camera room for underwater photographers. The upper floor of the dive centre is a place to relax between dives, with a deck, sun chairs and umbrellas. A small amount of well-maintained rental equipment is available if required.
There are over 40 dives sites to explore within 30 minutes of the resort, comprising coral reef, pelagic, macro, caves and gorgeous underwater topography. Typical water temperatures are 26 to 29 degrees Celsius, but cooler thermoclines are possible and 5mm wetsuits are preferable for the majority of divers.
