Discover two of Fiji's top reefs on this great itinerary, ideal for divers who enjoy a mix of colourful reefs and pelagic encounters.

Your adventure begins in tropical Taveuni, which offers volcanic mountains, lush rainforests and waterfalls, and deserves every accolade it has received from even the most jaded divers. Spectacular soft corals abound the world famous sites such as ‘White Wall’ and ‘Rainbow Reef’.

The second week is spent exploring the reefs at Kadavu, a very traditional Fijian island, surrounded by superb dive sites, including the famous Astrolabe and Solo Reefs. Astrolabe is rated as one of the world’s premier diving locations, offering great diversity and a spectacle of coral structures and marine life.

Suggested itinerary

  1. Day 1: Depart the UK for Fiji via Los Angeles or Hong Kong

  2. Day 3: Arrive Nadi, Fiji's capital, and continue to Taveuni

    On arrival in Nadi, make your way to the domestic terminal for a short flight to Taveuni. Met on arrival and transferred to Garden Island Resort. Check-in for a week long stay.

  3. Days 4-8 : Dive Taveuni

    Begin your dive pack with the on-site dive centre.

    Fed by the nutrient-rich waters tha flow through the Somosomo Strait, Tavueni’s Rainbow Reef is home to one of the world’s greatest displays of soft coral.

  4. Day 9: Day at leisure

    Time to relax by the pool or head off on a cultural tour of Taveuni island.

  5. Day 10: Fly to Kadavu

    Transfer to airport for flight to Kadavu (via Nadi). Met on arrival and transfer to Matava Eco Adventure Resort. Check-in for a week long stay.

  6. Days 11-15 : Explore the reefs of Kadavu

    Begin your dive pack with Mad Fish Dive Centre (on-site, PADI 5*) which will include a good mix of soft corals, critters and manta ray encounters at the 20 or so dive sites on the Great Astrolabe Reef that encircles the island of Kadavu.

  7. Day 16: Day at leisure

    Time to relax at the Bamboo Spa, exert yourself sea-kayaking or surfing, go bird watching or visit a local village. There are plenty of activities available here.

  8. Day 17: Depart via Nadi and Los Angeles or Hong Kong

  9. Day 18: Arrive UK

Taveuni

Kadavu

The Great Astrolabe Reef in southern Fiji is the world’s fourth largest barrier reef extending along the entire southern side of Kadavu. A world-class diving location, it exhibits a tremendous variety with passages, submerged pinnacles and manta cleaning stations.

  • Ideal for viewing: white-tip reef shark, spotted eagle ray, napoleon wrasse, green turtle, reef manta ray
