The Maluku Explorer offers exploration diving at the heart of the Coral Triangle visiting the remote and pristine sites of South Halmahera. The marine biodiversity is out of this world.
Built by divers for divers, this spacious and comfortable liveaboard accommodates up to 16 passengers in nine cabins, all with air-conditioning and private bathroom. The upper deck is home to a larger premium cabin with two master cabins located on the main deck and four twin and two single berth cabins are on the lower deck. Relax on the upper deck in the sunshine or air-conditioned lounge area complete with TV and DVD player. All buffet style (local and western cuisine) meals are taken in the dining area. The spacious dive deck features a huge camera table, charging stations, rinse tanks and showers. She is accompanied by two small speedboats.
Up to three dives a day are led by by the experienced local guides who will also take care of all your equipment needs during your stay. Allow them to point out pygmy seahorse, hairy octopus, hundreds of nudibranch and flamboyant cuttlefish. On the larger size, you can expect reef sharks, Napoleon wrasse, bat fish, bumphead parrot fish families, eagle and mobula rays. It has been known to encounter manta rays in this area in season. Two night dives are included, but you may want more!
She sails in a special part of the world and is unique in being able to offer such exploratory trips around southern Halmahera in northern Indonesia. Trips range from seven to ten nights and usually begin in Ternate. Expect an amazing biodiversity of marine life and huge healthy corals. This beautiful, unspoilt area of the world has scarcely been visited by divers, so you’ll have the chance to dive some unique and uncrowded places.
Recommended for experienced divers and subject to minimum numbers, guests require a minimum of 50 logged dives to join the trip as there can be strong currents. Nitrox is available.
