Wildlife Tour of Sri Lanka
5 days Colombo to Colombo
- Day 1. Arrive Sri Lanka [D]
- On a Sri Lankan Airlines flight, transfer to Wadduwa and the Blue Water Hotel. Spend the afternoon relaxing on the beach.
- Day 2. Wadduwa to Embilipitiya [B, D]
- Travel through Galle, Matara and Tangalle. In the afternoon explore Udawalawe National Park by Jeep. Expect to see elephant, Sambhur, Wild Boar, Wild Buffalo, Crocodiles, Jackal, Mongoose, Leopard and, if you are lucky, the Sloth Bear along with many species of birds. Spend one night at the Oasis Hotel, Hambantota.
- Day 3. Jeep Safari to Bundala and Yala National Parks [B, D]
- Bundala is one of three approved wetlands in Sri Lanka, home to over 150 species of birds, the highlight being flocks of hundreds of Greater Flamingos. Bundala has fascinating wildlife and provides wonderful opportunities for observation and photography, particularly of elephant. Other animals include Spotted Deer, Sambhur, Wild Boar, Wild Buffalo and, in the marsh and lagoons in the area, Crocodiles. Leave the park for Yala, via Wirawila and Tissa. Yala is famous for large numbers of leopard, and you will visit their regular haunts. Stay overnight at the Yala Village Hotel, Palatupana.
- Day 4. Yala National Park and Colombo [B, D]
- One last leopard and elephant drive in Yala before a late breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast leave for Colombo via Tissamaharamaya, Wirawila, Tanamalwila, Pelmadulla Buddhist Temple and Ratnapura, where you will visit a gem museum and see gemstones being cut and polished. Arrive in Colombo in the evening, staying overnight at the Hilton Hotel.
- Day 5. Homeward [B]
- Transfer to the airport for you flight homeward.
