Saba Pinnacles & Pirates
-
Saba is a diver's delight. Rising steeply from the azure sea, this tiny Caribbean island is a magical experience far away from the cares and worries of the modern world. Four small villages are quaint and charming, so that visitors feel they have stepped back in history whilst enjoying many modern luxuries. With its Dutch heritage and the legacy of early Celtic settlers, pioneers and pirates, the island, and it's inhabitants, have an air of gently laid back charm. Saba is a monument to nature's best, both above and below the ocean's surface.
The famous Saba Marine Park is second to none and the island is a magical place for diving, hiking and nature lovers. Saba's volcanic origins have blessed her waters with incredible formations and structural diversity. Although Saba's underwater attractions include spectacular (and shallower) reefs and walls, it is for her pinnacles that she has acquired a reputation as a 'must go destination' among seasoned divers. The pinnacles are actually the summits of underwater mountains, beginning at around 26 metres and extending to the abyss. They are awesomely impressive, attracting not only to divers, but also the larger fish and pelagics that are frequent visitors.Although there are no beaches on Saba, there are plenty of activities for divers and non-divers. From spectacular coastal walks or hiking in the rainforest to sea kayaking or just enjoy the fantastic views from the pool.
