Southern Oman (Winter months) and Daymaniyat (September)

This 34 metre steel ship began operating a unique dive safari in southern Oman in Nov 2011. Accommodating 22 passengers and a crew of eight, there is plenty of room for everyone. The eleven cabins all feature twin beds, air-conditioning and en-suite bathrooms. Facilities on board include a spacious salon, large sundeck and ample room on the dive deck. Alcohol is not available on board, but you can bring your own duty free bought from Muscat Airport (not available at Salalah).

Be one of the first to explore the Hallaniyat Islands, home to pristine corals, humpback and sperm whales and the City of Winchester wreck, on this six night adventure. The 150m long British war ship from WWl is in excellent condition and rests on the seabed at 30m. The diving area is untouched and undiscovered, so you can expect everything! Enjoy colourful reefs, look out for whales, manta rays and grouper or even discover a new wreck, as rumour has it, there are plenty in this area waiting silently for you, the pioneering diver. The expedition leader is a qualified marine biologist, helping you to identify the plethora of marine species you will encounter. Nitrox is available.

The boat departs on a Saturday afternoon (Nov-May) from Mirbat harbour. Check out dives will be along the coast at Hasik. From here, there is a four hour crossing to a group of five islands known as the Hallaniyat. Spend the rest of the week exploring these unchartered waters and head back to the mainland for the last night of the trip. This is an adventure for experienced divers, as the waters are unknown and tourism undeveloped in this area. Extra Divers began operating the trip in November 2011. Whilst adventure diving is important, safety is paramount for the experienced dive crew.

NEW ITINERARY! - The Saman Explorer offers x4 trips during September from Muscat. Departing each Saturday the boat visits the top dive sites along the coast from Sawadi towards the Daymaniyat Islands. Dive Ras Abu Dhaut, Al Munnasir wreck, Bandar Khairan, Fahal Islands and the Daymaniyat Islands - where you may just bump into a whale shark!
