Mafusa and Danforth Lodge

2010 - Lake Malawi is Africa's third largest lake and stretches over five hundred kilometres from north to south. Palm fringed beaches and soaring mountains surround the warm crystal clear waters and picturesque fishing villages dot the shoreline. The lake supports over 1,000 species of tropical fish, with over 350 being unique to the lake.

Explore Lake Malawi, the greatest freshwater dive destination on earth - a giant aquarium and the jewel of Africa's Great Rift Valley. The warm water temperatures and aquarium-like visibility has meant that Lake Malawi has often been selected as one of the top ten must see dive destinations of the world. Although the lake can be up to 700 metres deep, most of the diving is done above 20 metres as not much Cyclid life lives at any depths.

Mufasa is a fully equipped and crewed ocean going catamaran, which sleeps eight guests in comfort and style. The layout includes two bathrooms, four double cabins, two crew berths, saloon, galley, cockpit under shade bimini and a dive platform. Mufusa is the only ocean-going, liveaboard diving yacht on Lake Malawi.

As well as the diving of course you can always seek out larger wildlife on the edges!

Alternative to a Liveaboard:

The owners of Mufasa also operate Danforth Lodge. The Lodge has four spacious, en-suite family rooms, tastefully decorated in cool, nautical colours and all opening onto a large patio. All rooms have spectacular views of the lake and look out over Thumbi West Island. The garden has shady lawns, leading to a sparkling beach and infinity swimming pool. Moored just a stones throw away is the luxury yacht "Mufasa."

• PADI scuba diving centre, water sports and activities are all on site and easily accessible to resident guests.

Danforth Lodge and Mufasa operate on a full board basis which includes three delicious meals each day, plus teas, coffees, cakes and snacks. The local and international chefs take pride in presenting a tempting selection of dishes for the buffet table, using the freshest of ingredients. Dining is al-fresco in a family setting. Children are most welcome. Dietary needs are catered to.
