Koh Samui and Koh Tao
Lying 80 kilometres east from mainland Southern Thailand, amongst innumerable smaller islands of the Angthong Archipelago and the Angthong Marine National Park, the beautiful tropical island of Koh Samui is the largest and most populated of the islands in the Gulf of Thailand. Also within easy reach of the mainland of Southern Thailand and accessible by high speed boats, lies the equally beautiful island of Koh Tao, from the moment that you set foot on the ferry pier, you feel the charm of this small desert island. Both islands have accommodation to suit all tastes, from budget to fabulous beach bungalows.
- The weather on Koh Samui and Koh Tao is generally very agreeable, average temperature of 25C in the cool season (from November to February) to highs of 35C plus, in the hot dry season (from March to June). Although humid at times, the heat is never oppressive, as both islands are cooled by the gentle sea breezes from The Gulf of Thailand.
- The diving around Koh Samui and Koh Tao is diverse and plentiful with a considerable number of dive sites to suit both beginners and experienced divers alike.
