11 Days London to London [HB]

Explore the highlights of Jordan, including the Dead Sea, Petra, Wadi Rum and the Red Sea reefs of Aqaba. Jordan is a relatively small country in which to self-drive, with new roads and plenty of signposts. Alternatively relax and let someone else do all the driving.

Day 1. Fly to Amman

Arrive and transfer to your overnight hotel.

Day 2. Discover Jerash and Ajlun

You will be met by your driver. Considered the most complete and best preserved city of the Decapolis, the ancient Greco-Roman city of Jerash lies an easy hour's drive from Amman. Ajlun village, a forty-minute drive from Amman, offers the visitor a remarkable castle, dating from 12th century AD. Your overnight stop is at the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth, some 400 metres below sea level. Due to an extremely high content of salts and minerals, as the name suggest, the sea is devoid of life. However, it is these very minerals that give the Dead Sea its renowned curative powers, recognised for over 2,000 years.

Day 3. Madaba, Mt Nebo, Kerak and Petra

First stop is Madaba, for its markets, ancient mosaics and nearby Mount Nebo, where Moses looked over the Promised Land. Then head via Kerak, dominated by its Crusader castle before arriving in Petra. This is a long (5-hours) but interesting day's drive. Overnight near Petra

Day 4. Petra

Explore Petra before continuing on to Aqaba. Overnight Aqaba

Days 5 to 8. Dive Aqaba

Time to relax and enjoy the underwater world with eight shore dives included. There's also history here to be explored. Overnight Aqaba

Day 9. Wadi Rum

Explore the stunning beauty of Wadi Rum by jeep. Overnight Aqaba

Day 10. Homeward

Depart for Aqaba Airport to fly via Amman home.

Day 11. Arrive Home
