Ice Diving in Austria

Day 1. Thursday

Arriving into Salzburg in the evening, you will transfer to the alpine resort of Weyregg, on the shores of Lake Attersee, and the Stallinger Guesthouse, a family-run guesthouse offering a very special ambiance. Located in a peaceful yet central location, it is only three minutes walk from the dive centre and within walking distance of several restaurants and a supermarket. All rooms are en-suite with TV and there is also a lounge and an equipment drying room available for your use. In the basement you will find the health suite, where you may relax in the warmth of a sauna or spa at the end of a day under the ice.

Day 2. Friday [B]

As many of Austria's lakes are at least 300 metres above sea level it is necessary that you are trained in altitude diving procedures. The one day course includes altitude diving theory, planning and two altitude dives in Lake Attersee at an altitude of approximately 500 metres.

Day 3. Saturday [B]

Starts with ice diving theory and then you will transfer to a frozen lake, at a higher altitude, for your first dive under the ice.

Day 4. Sunday [B]

Transfer up the mountain to an altitude of approximately 800 metres. Where you will help prepare the site for ice diving, including setting up the tent and ice entry. After a briefing you will conduct safety procedures and experience two guided dives under the ice. Following your dives and de-briefing, you will secure and close the entry. During the day hot drinks and snacks will be provided in the heated diving truck. In the evening you will experience and Austrian evening in a mountain hut including traditional food and schnapps, followed by sledging back down the mountain!!!

Day 5. Monday [B]

Spend the day exploring Weyregg or Salzburg before your evening flight home.
