Bagamoyo & Lazy Lagoon Island Resort - 4 days from Dar es Salaam
- Bagamoyo is one of the most interesting and beautiful Swahili villages on the whole East African coast. There are haunting and mysterious ruins in among the palm trees, stately avenues of mango trees, a stunning old German church and mission and a fascinating museum documenting the history of the East African slave trade. Lazy Lagoon is an intriguing add-on to the better-known beach destination of Zanzibar. It's a small private island set off the shore of Bagamoyo, just north of Dar es Salaam. There's a lovely swimming beach, and, as the name suggests, enough places to while away a couple of days in perfect indolence or if feeling energetic snorkelling, kayaking, exploring the lagoon and mangrove forest or take a tour to Bagamoyo.
