Liveaboard Diving

Join the Don Jose for a week of unlimited diving. Dive with reef fish, turtles, Giant Mantas and Whale Sharks, and discover why Baja is known as a pelagic paradise. Don Jose is a custom built 24-metre motor vessel offering comfortable accommodation, superb meals and decks that provide excellent vantage points for viewing whales, dolphins, Mantas and Whale Sharks. Just fourteen passengers are accommodated, in seven above-deck, air-conditioned cabins, each cabin has a changing area, storage closet and adjacent bathroom. Operating out of La Paz, the Don Jose offers a variety of different expeditions. They range from 8-day Whale Shark diving adventures (May to June), 8-day reef dive trips (July to November) to 8-day non-diving Blue Whale expeditions.

Whale Shark Expeditions

Each spring these amazing and magnificent creatures - the largest fish on earth - migrate to Baja's coastal waters, which teem with plankton, their primary food source. Feeding at the surface, the Whale Sharks give plenty of opportunities for close encounters. To increase the odds of finding them, the Don Jose now uses a spotter plane for a limited time during each trip, to direct the boat towards the animals as they feed.

Of course the thrills of this expedition don't end with big animal sightings There are other great dive sites to visit; like El Bajo, Las Animas and Los Islotes, dive sites that have earned the Sea of Cortez its world famous reputation for diving excellence.
