Cape Town Extravaganza

Day 1. Fly overnight to Cape Town

Stay for six nights either at a personally selected B&B or at the inexpensive Breakwater Lodge, in the heart of Cape Town's V & A Waterfront development. Once a 19th century prison, the lodge today provides comfortable, accommodation in a spectacular setting, overlooking the bay and Table Mountain.

Day 2. Cape Peninsula Tour [B,L]

Begin your South African White Shark adventure with a full day Cape Peninsula tour to Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. After a picnic lunch in the reserve, head along the coast of False Bay to the famous penguin colony at Boulders; a haven for almost 3,000 African (Jackass) Penguins and one of the few sites where visitors can observe the birds at close range, and even swim in the sea with them! If you are visiting between August and December, you may even spot the Southern Right, and Bryde's Whale, which are frequent visitors to this coastline.

Days 3 & 4. Great White Shark Diving [B]

Non-divers also have an opportunity to get close to these creatures, as sharks frequently swim to the surface, cruise around the boat and offer great views and photographic opportunities from the deck. Rather than spending precious time driving from and to Cape Town, overnight locally, in Kelders, Gansbaai or Kleinbaai, in a comfortable B&B. Head back to Cape Town after your final dive at the end of Day 4.

Days 5 & 6. Cape Town Diving [B]

Two days of two tank dives are on offer amongst some unique marine-life.

Day 7. Aquila Private Game Reserve [B]

Take a picturesque drive to the Aquila Private Game Reserve, situated in the southern Karoo Highlands. Named after the rare Black Eagle that thrives in the area, Aquila boasts a spectacular range of game, and, from atop open-air 4-wheel drive vehicles, you will search for Lion, Caracal, Wildebeest and Springbok. You will also visit the world-renowned San paintings, found at a once inhabited Bushman cave.

Day 8. Cape Winelands Tour [B]

An early morning start for your visit to the Cape Winelands. Enjoy a tour of Stellenbosch and visit a local wine estate to sample some of the finest Cape wines. Return to your hotel to pick up your baggage and then be transferred to Cape Town Airport for your flight home.

Day 9. Arrive London

Boulders Beach
Rather than stay in Cape Town between dives, spend a night at Boulders Beach Lodge, just footsteps from the beach and home to the only mainland colony of African Penguins. Accommodation is in twelve tastefully decorated, ensuite bedrooms with corner baths in each room. Enjoy the ambience and the small restaurant before taking a stroll to see the penguins.

Gansbaai and Dyer Island
Gansbaai is the world capital of the Great White Shark, and Dyer Island presents the best place in the world to discover, observe and dive with these elusive and wonderful animals. From June through December, Gansbaai is also home to the Southern Right Whale when the coastline becomes the breeding area for these giants of the oceans. Gansbaai is also located at the heart of the Fynbos Biome, the smallest, and richest, floral kingdom in the world. Stay a night or two at one of a selection of excellent B&Bs.

Protea Banks or Aliwal Shoal
Combine the thrill of Great White Shark cage diving in Cape Town with the adventure of diving with Ragged-tooth sharks at Aliwal. Hungry for more sharks? Head to Protea, and the opportunity of seeing even more of these fascinating animals.
