Belizean Shores Resort

10 days London to London [RO]

New for 2009 from Dive Worldwide Located on Ambergris Caye - famed for perfect scuba-diving waters - the peaceful Belizean Shores Resort has a prime beachfront location, seven kilometres north of San Pedro. Spacious air-conditioned suites feature a master bedroom, fully equipped kitchen, dining and living areas with cable TV, and a terrace or balcony with spectacular views over the crystal clear Caribbean Sea, the resort's swimming pool or the landscaped tropical gardens.

The underwater world around Belize is filled with shallow gardens of coral, steep drop-offs speckled with colourful fish, vibrant sponges and the world famous Blue Hole. The resort offers various activities including scuba diving, snorkelling and sailing. Guests enjoy complimentary use of two-seater kayaks.

Ambergris Caye
Some of the best diving is found along the world's second-longest, and largely unexplored, coral reef, lying just a few hundred yards off Ambergris Caye. Swim with Nurse Sharks and Southern Stingrays, visit Shark-Ray Alley, a shallow cut in the reef located to the south and to the inside of Hol Chan Marine Reserve. Much of the reef is 'spur and groove' down to around 50 metres and makes for fascinating underwater topography. Good diving is everywhere and at all depths.

About 80 kilometres away is the Blue Hole at Lighthouse Reef, originally a cathedral-like cave, the roof fell in some 10,000 years ago, as the land receded into the sea. Almost a perfectly circular hole, it is 300 metres in diameter, and 130 metres deep; at 40 metres one can see stalagmites and stalactites, remnants from when the cave was above water, and swim through the maze of quartz and limestone, while the marine-life swims below. As this is a deep dive it is only suitable for experienced divers.
