This fully guided adventure offers diving enthusiasts plenty of memorable shark encounters as well as the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the must see topside wildlife in KwaZulu-Natal.
This diving adventure begins at Aliwal Shoal, famed for its shark encounters. Expect ragged tooth, oceanic black-tip, bull, hammerhead, guitar and tiger sharks, which all frequent the area (some seasonal). Continue north to Mozambique where diving is still relatively new to international visitors. Dive the reefs around Ponta do Ouro where you can expect encounters with tiger, bull and hammerhead sharks.
There is an abundance of marine life along the coast and the focus is on sharks, however you can expect to see a huge variety of other species including humpback whales (seasonal), dolphin, turtles, manta rays, devil rays, eagle rays, eels, game fish and plenty of reef fish.
The adventre continues topside. Enjoy two full days of safari in Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve; your chance to spot lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo and the white rhino for which the reserve is famous for. In addition, before heading home, head out on a hippo and croc river cruise; a fantastic wildlife experience.
Day1: Depart the UK for South Africa
Day2: Arrive and transfer to Umkomaas
You will be met on arrival and transferred to your lodge in the small town of Umkomaas, where you will spend the next three nights. Spend your mornings diving and your afternoons relaxing. Some evening activities are arranged during your stay, such as a braai (bbq) and dinners to local restaurants.
Days3-4: Shark diving at Aliwal Shoal
Your package here includes 4 guided boat dives. The boats are launched on the river or from the beach each morning. During your time in Umkomaas you'll dive on Aliwal Shoal where sharks are a plenty. Expect raggies, oceanic black-tip and tiger sharks.
Day5: Transfer to Mozambique
An early start this morning as you transfer up the coast to your next lodge in Ponta do Ouro, Mozambique where you will spend the next five nights. On arrival (by 4x4 vehicle) you will check-in and kit up for a dive this afternoon. Evening at leisure.
The next few days you will spend your mornings diving and your afternoons relaxing. Some evening activities are arranged during your stay, such as a braai (bbq) and dinners to local restaurants.
Days6-9: Dive Ponta do Ouro
Your package in Mozambique includes 10 guided boat dives. The boats are launched from the beach each morning. During your time here you'll dive on the reefs of Ponta do Ouro, Ponta Malongane and Ponta Mamoli. Expect bull and hammerhead sharks and plenty more marine life on these healthy reefs.
All diving is from a RIB and the sites are within 20 minutes of the shore. Keep an eye out for whale sharks that are spotted year round from this remote area.
Day10: Transfer to safari lodge
Enjoy your last shark dive this morning. Later you will transfer to the next lodge in St Lucia, South Africa where you will spend the next three nights. Evening at leisure.
Days11-12: Topside wildlife safari
Your wildlife holiday experience continues topside. Enjoy two full days of safari by open top vehicle in Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve. This is your chance to spot lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo and the white rhino for which the reserve is famous for.
Over night at the lodge in St Lucia.
Day13: River cruise & depart South Africa
This morning enjoy a river cruise in search of more wildlife, namely hippo and crocodiles. Later today you will be transferred to the airport for your overnight flight back to the UK.
Day14: Arrive UK
