Typical Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Fly to San Diego

In San Diego, stay overnight at a three star hotel near to the airport.
  2. Day 2: Join the Nautilus Explorer

The morning is at leisure. Later this afternoon you will transfer by coach to Ensenada to board the Nautilus Explorer and start your Guadalupe and Socorro adventure. Once you have settled into your cabin, you will have an overnight sail to Isla Guadalupe (approximately 22 hours), arriving the following evening.

The luxurious Nautilus Explorer liveaboard is designed for these waters and offers a range of comfortable cabin options, along with modern spacious amenities ideally suited to divers.

  3. Day 3: Sail to Isla Guadalupe

  4. Days 4-5 : Cage diving with great white sharks

There will be an early morning start in anticipation of great white shark encounters for the next three days. Here, crystal clear waters play host to large numbers of great white sharks, and offer unequalled opportunities to come face to face with these apex predators in their own habitat.

A variety of shark cages are deployed each morning at varying depths, offering almost unlimited opportunities throughout each day to view the sharks. The cages are designed with photographers in mind, offering a 360 degree panoramic platform to maximise the quality of the shark viewing experience.

  5. Day 6: Depart Guadalupe

After a final day of great white shark encounters, you set sail this evening for San Benitos.

  6. Day 7: Enjoy two days of diving at San Benitos

Diving through kelp forests is a mesmerising experience in itself, but the highlight for many who visit are the playful fur seals and sealions that swoop and dive in and around the swaying kelp, putting on a dizzying show for cumbersome divers. These beautiful kelp forests also provide a home to white tip and silky sharks, horn shark, guitar ray, bat ray, wahoo and tuna. A wonderful stop-off en-route to Socorro!

  7. Days 8-10 : Continue to Socorro

Later today, your adventure continues south towards the extraordinary Revillagigedo Archipelago, Socorro island being the most renowned. This is a long journey, with three nights cruising the Pacific Ocean.

  8. Days 11-15 : Dive Socorro

You will arrive at Socorro today to begin the second part of your Pacific diving experience, with four and a half days' diving included. This remote group of islands, lying 400 kilometres south-east of Mexico’s Baja Peninsula, are a magnet for big marine life.

The islands of Socorro have gained a deserved reputation as the home of the giant Pacific manta ray, and provide possibly the finest encounters in the world. Up to seven species of shark are also seen here including hammerhead, Galapagos and silky sharks, with large schools a common sight. Playful and curious dolphins are also regular visitors.
